Description

Six girls on the brink of womanhood, ready to become something extraordinary…

Gippsland Women's Forum in partnership with Arts in Action presents a screening of I AM A GIRL, an inspirational award winning documentary by Australian filmmaker Rebecca Barry. Exploring what it means to be a girl in the 21st century, the film traces the struggles of six girls from around the world facing challenges as they approach womanhood. The reality is that girls make up almost a quarter of the world’s population yet still face the greatest discrimination of any group in the world. Despite this, girls have found extraordinary ways to persevere, and in this documentary we hear their stories of strength, hope, courage and a refusal to be second best.
